Krista Schlyer

2021 NANPA Environmental Impact Award Recipient

Krista, a Senior Fellow in the International League of Conservation Photographers, is a conservation documentarian and storyteller whose home base is in the Washington, D.C., area. Schlyer focuses on long-term landscape-based projects, including the Anacostia River watershed and the longleaf pine ecosystem of the American Southeast. For the past decade she has documented the rich biodiversity of the United States-Mexico borderlands and the impacts of U.S. border policy on the region. She is the writer/director of the 2019 feature film Ay Mariposa and author of Continental Divide: Wildlife, People and the Border Wall, winner of the 2013 National Outdoor Book Award and Ansel Adams Award.
